Edmund has been the Department for International Trade (DIT) Director in Kazakhstan since August 2018. His team focuses on the mining, oil and gas, financial and professional business services, healthcare, agriculture, education, and other sectors.

Edmund has worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO), and the DIT since 1999. His previous roles have included: leading DIT’s South East Asia infrastructure opportunities campaign from Singapore in 2014-18, where he also covered the aerospace, automotive, defence and security, marine and other sectors; coordinating UK IPO engagement with India and SE Asia from London, via its attaches in New Delhi and Singapore in 2012-14; and oversight of UK-China ministerial trade policy dialogues in UKTI’s China Markets Unit in London in 2008-12. He joined the Foreign Office in 1999, initially covering EU enlargement, before studying Mandarin Chinese for two political section (bilateral relations) postings in Beijing in 2002-07.

After graduation from the Suleyman Demirel University (diploma with distinction) in 2010, he worked as a junior consultant at Stratega WCM Ltd.

In 2010 – the expert of the Department of Analytics of AMME, in 2012 – the Director of the Department of Analytics of AMME. He was appointed the Deputy Executive Director of AMME in 2014.

In AMME he manages the issues of transport support for MMC enterprises, regulated activities and competition, taxation, foreign economic activities, international cooperation, strategic planning and development. He is responsible for analytical work of AMME, promotion of cooperation with foreign organizations, the participation of the association in international initiatives and projects.

As Head of Sales and Marketing for EHS Data, Henrik has more than 5 years’ experience of global sales in the mining sector. Clients range from exploration companies to mid-tier miners as well as global actors.

Henrik has an environmental science background and is thus very knowledgeable in the issues faced by a modern mining operation.

Tatyana has more than 10 years of experience in the field of environmental sciences, hydrogeology, and drilling, of which more than 5 years in the mining industry. She works at KAZ Minerals as an Environmental specialist – hydrogeologist and an environmental consultant at alphaSMART LLP, which is part of the Alpha-Safety Group of companies.

Tatyana has an environmental, hydrogeological, and metallurgical education and is therefore familiar with the challenges that exist in the industry and the mining sector in particular.

Anastasia is a Business Development Manager at the Satellite Applications Catapult, an innovation and technology company looking to transform the way the world uses satellite technology and its data. In her role, Anastasia has travelled extensively around the world securing key relationships with stakeholders across market sectors such as mining and agriculture. As a Business Development Manager within the Extractive Industries Team, Anastasia is responsible for developing tactical partnerships between the UK and partner countries to develop and deliver innovative solutions tackling key sector challenges.

Prior to joining Catapult, Anastasia ran a pioneering international event management start-up company focused on delivering international events that brought together entities from business, government, and academia to develop collaborations across numerous markets around the world.

Anastasia has a great passion for innovation, space and technology development and how it can be applied to unlock growth and sustainability across the global extractives sector.

Prof. H. Chris Greenwell is Professor of Geochemistry at Durham University, United Kingdom. Chris graduated with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Cambridge University in 2004 and his research specialises in the structure and reactivity of mineral interfaces, with a particular focus on the uses and applications of layered minerals. Bringing together theoretical and experimental studies, Chris has worked with many industry partners and organisations to develop technologies using minerals. Since 2015, Chris has worked with government and industry partners in the UK to develop a low-cost and sustainable adsorbent material for cleaning up pollution from legacy metal mines. Using knowledge gained from this, and working with colleagues in Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, low cost filters are being developed for use by families and communities to remove bacteria and metals from drinking water.

Dr. Sagintayev is a Research Professor at the School of Engineering of Nazarbayev University, with PhD degrees, Geo Sciences, W. Michigan University Dr. Sagintayev specializes in Remote Sensing and GIS hydrologic modeling applications and works on the cross disciplinary projects within the Environment & Resource Efficiency Cluster Nazarbayev University (EREC NU). Current effort is expansion of the TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) with connection to the UNESCO UNEVOC TVET program.

Experienced environmental auditor since 1987. Auditing experience covers pre-acquisition, compliance regulatory and health and safety, and environmental financial liability assessments.

Simon has over 30 years of experience in integrated water management, site regeneration, demolition and decommissioning, soil and groundwater remediation, waste management, wastewater engineering and environmental engineering.

Simon has worked on a wide range of hydrological and hydrogeological assessments including catchment scale modelling, flood risk assessments and assessment of water availability/scarcity, social and environmental implications with respect to mining and oil and gas exploration and operation, optioneering assessments looking at water implications on design, closure and aftercare.

Simon has worked on site regeneration projects including the identification of re-use options for former industrial facilities, master planning/planning and environmental impact assessment work. Also the assessment of contamination impact and need for and cost of remediation within the context of redevelopment.

Simon has particular expertise in in-situ thermal focused solutions to provide rapid, cost effective and sustainable answers for the most complex site contamination problems and recalcitrant compounds, such as chlorinated solvents, PCBs, Pesticides and 1,4-dioxane.

Trent is the Head of Dams and Tailings Storage Facilities at Kazminerals, based in Almaty. He is a Chartered Engineer in Australia as well as a member of AusIMM and IEMA with 20 years of experience as a geotechnical engineer. His has worked in consulting, construction and mine operations with his main focus on mine waste, dams and earthworks construction. He has lived and worked on 6 continents and in places as diverse as the Arctic Circle to the Equator to the Atacama Desert. Trent has worked on dozens of TSFs as either, Engineer of Record, designer, construction supervisor or quality assurance engineer and he has a passion for improving the outcomes for TSFs through safety and sustainability.

Jonathan joined Argo after a 25-year career in The City of London as a stockbroker. Over the last 15 years, Jonathan has specialised in the natural resources sector where he has been involved in a large number of high-profile capital raisings for mining, oil & gas and renewables companies, bringing with him a high level of expertise and understanding of the companies we work with.

Fred is a corporate finance professional and geologist with expertise in debt capital markets and corporate advisory. Fred has held VP roles at hedge funds and in investment advisory, structuring and deploying over $500 million. Fred is qualified as a Financial Modeling and Valuations Analyst with the Corporate Finance Institute. Currently, he advises listed and private corporate clients on financial strategy and debt capital markets. Fred also presents at international finance conferences such as the Mining Indaba conference and is a Fellow of the Geological Society.
